In keeping with our purpose “to stimulate , cultivate and perpetuate the study of ikebana culture and related arts”, Monterey Bay Chapter has developed several on-going outreach projects to serve our community. In addition to our two major projects, many opportunities arise to demonstrate the art of ikebana to the public at various flower exhibitions that occur throughout the year.

Since the opening of Westland House (Hospice and Care Facility) in November 1993, every five days throughout the year, members of Monterey Bay Chapter have donated their time, talent and flowers to exhibit a beautiful ikebana arrangement in a special Tokonoma (Nich) near the entrance. The Tokonoma (Nich) was designed and created by a special contribution by the late member Ruby Banks and her husband, William Banks.
